I Wish

I wish you were here with me
Maybe then the pain in my heart
Would disappear

I wish I could see your big, bright smile
So I could have some great memories
To share

I wish I could feel your warm touch
Every time you hugged me
Instead of feeling cold and senseless

I wish you came around more often
Instead of never coming at all

I wish I was able to say I had a father
Instead of saying I don’t have one
Because you're a stranger to my empty life

I wish so many things from you
That now I realize you’ll never come
So instead of wishing for a miracle
And hoping you’ll come

I wish that you were filled with love and joy
And remember me
When you look at your son.
