To Be A Dog

What a bad life it would be,
to be a dog.
Depending on the generosity of strangers,
who don’t understand you,
who don’t even try.
And when they speak,
it is in orders.
Short.
No please, no thank you,
only rewards, in the form of,
life.

What a simple life it would be,
to be a dog
Drinking water and eating dry food.
Sleep, eat, walk, drink, sleep.
Every day, forever.

What a good life it would be,
to be a dog.
Pleased by the simplest things.
A pat on the head, a scratch behind one ear,
a kind word, a walk, barking at a cat.
Not worrying… about
life.
