Home

One thousand miles
Between us,
Six hours
Until you come home,
Ten days
Until you leave again.

You are following your dream
Halfway across the country,
And four times a year
You come back to us.

Home,
Laughter and smiles,
Hugs and kisses,
Stories and jokes untold,
Momens missed.

Small things,
Walks to the center,
Car rides for coffee
Stay with me long after.

Soon you are gone,
Phone calls hold us together
But things are still lost,
And I wait
For you to come home.
