A Never Ending Night?

What can we do about these problems that we face,
Pulling on the legs of the human race?
Leading us into a darkness unknown
Like a lead weight tugging a swimmer down.

What causes a soaring crime rate?
Why is earth being led to an early fate?
Is it money, power, or greed,
Or a combination of all three?

Some act like they’re the talk of the town.
They won’t hesitate to stab or gun down.
Cause to them, business isn’t funny,
A human life isn’t worth a cent of money.

Drugs and diamonds, it’s all fair trade,
As long as they get paid at the point of their blade.
Power is an extremely potent drug,
That can turn anyone into a narcissistic thug.

So what can we do about these problems that we face?
Do we turn our backs in disgrace.
Or do we stand our ground and fight,
To keep our world from a never ending night?
