Perfection

Total absence of clumsiness
smooth and slick
Like when Tiger swings the stick
Swift as a fish
Like a Kobe swish
Complete but quick
Like a Vinatieri kick
Calm but intense
Like when Ortiz hits it over the fence
This state that is barely in reach
Even the best can not teach
And practice makes champions
So get out on the range
The field
Or the court
Even the pros have to practice their sport
Many will fail
And very few will succeed
But if you overcome
Losing, triumph, and defeat
You’re far from the best
But don’t lose site of the rest
Who could steal your position
There will never be easy competition
This was not promised or permanent
or something that you’re sent
For this is perfection
No substitutions like a shot or a pill
Only hard work
                                   Determination and skill
