Tongue-tied Zeal

If the world was silent
Could I hear your thoughts?
Your hopes?
Your dreams?
Your fears?

Everything you wanted to say
But couldn’t
Shouldn’t
Wouldn’t
Suddenly upon my ears.

If the world just stopped
And everything was still
Could I hold your hand?
Hear your laugh?
Wipe your falling tears?

We are estranged, You and I
And have been many years.

Trapped in a haze
But when the fog clears…

I will hear your thoughts.

And your hopes.

Even your dreams.

Your fears.
