Stephen McKenna II

Sad But True

The week leading up to it was so long
Normally we see each other, talk, share in one another’s company
Then more than ever, I couldn’t stop the thoughts of her in my head
She was more to me than anyone before or since her
Finally the week closed, we met at last
Like in the past we just talked sharing what’s up
Today was different she would learn of my heart
I let myself see her perfection, her awe inspiring beauty
Opening my heart to her I could feel the barrier between us
My feelings like water flowed until hitting the wall around her heart
After finishing my confession to her, she flooded me in an ocean of rejection
And drowned my heart
