“Please, can we go outside today?”
After the New England winter recedes, along with the worst of the radiators’ rumblings, students are eager to cut loose from the classroom confines. Conscientious to the end, though, we try to maintain our focus on white boards and lined paper while a riot of colors bloom within our peripheral view.
Yet both teachers and students know that lasting, authentic learning takes place when we can transcend our academic “fourth wall” to engage with life that exists beyond the classroom stage. In that spirit, 2:25 PM opens a doorway to a broader audience. Our authors perform their writing skills and project their voices to the world at large.
Writing for publication encourages teachers to sometimes respond, “Yes. Let’s go!”
